Treatment Options

Forma-I: bipolar radiofrequency (RF)Forma-I uses bipolar radiofrequency energy to generate heat around the eyes, stimulating collagen formation and reducing inflammation. This treatment opens clogged meibomian glands, enhancing tear production and secretion. Forma-I is ideal for targeting the delicate eyelid areas with unparalleled safety and precision and treating conditions such as:

  • Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)
  • Chalazion (Stye)
  • Reduces fine lines & wrinkles (e.g. Crow’s feet, frown lines/11’s, etc.)

Lumecca-I: intense pulsed light (IPL) Lumecca-I employs intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to control inflammation and reduce the need for over-the-counter and prescription medications. This effective IPL treatment for dry eye targets conditions such as:

  • Ocular rosacea
  • Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)
  • Blepharitis
  • Demodex
  • Dry eye

IPL has been shown to decrease bacteria that cause blepharitis and helps alleviate inflammation in ocular rosacea.

Forma-I is effective at treating styes or chalazion that have not responded to traditional therapies such as warm compresses and/or antibiotics.

Styes or chalazion will generally require a series of 3 treatments for best results, however, patients will notice an improvement even after the 1st treatment.

Forma-I and Lumecca are effective at restoring a smooth, healthy ocular surface. Patients experience fewer symptoms and achieve their best vision after their dry eye has resolved.

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition that may produce a rash, redness, or broken blood vessels. Ocular rosacea affects the eyes and can cause dry eye, redness, burning, or stinging. Lumecca and Lumecca-I is effective at reducing inflammation, improving the redness and dry eye symptoms.

Envision’s small-size applicators and precise depth control allow for safe and highly efficacious procedures in the small, more delicate subdermal layers of the eyelids and surrounding regions. With Envision Forma-I and Lumecca, we can deliver non-surgical, non-drug therapies to improve patient quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?

For most conditions, Dr. Kauffman recommends a series of 3 to 4 treatment sessions. However, treatment times and frequency will be specifically tailored to obtain the optimal results.

WHAT KIND OF POST-PROCEDURE CARE IS REQUIRED?

Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction typically resolves within a few hours. There is no recovery period or downtime associated with these procedures.

WHAT IS FORMA-I?

This is an innovative non-surgical procedure that delivers bipolar radiofrequency (RF) technology to the smaller, more delicate eyelids. Designed with unprecedented safety, the small size applicator, precision RF depth control, and intelligent temperature monitoring, ensure a safe non-drug alternative.

HOW DOES FORMA-I WORK?

Forma-I feels like a warm stone massage in the eye area, improving blood circulation and stimulating collagen growth. The small-size applicator and precision RF depth control allow treatment in small and delicate areas.

WHAT IS LUMECCA-I?

Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) designed to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. Lumecca-I uses photothermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. IPL has been FDA approved for more than 15 years to remove superficial skin lesions, but can also be used to treat dry eye, blepharitis, Demodex, and ocular inflammation.

HOW DOES LUMECCA-I WORK?

Lumecca-I creates tissue heating which helps to reduce inflammation. During treatment there will be a bright flash of light and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

All treatments are performed right here at Contemporary Eye Care. As a result, there is no general anesthesia, no incisions, or downtime that is associated with surgical interventions. Most clients find the treatments very comfortable, similar to a warm stone massage. Dr. Kauffman will discuss in detail the specifics of your customized treatment plan and how it will treat your individual symptoms.

HOW SAFE ARE THESE TREATMENTS?

Forma-I and Lumecca are safe and effective non-invasive, non-surgical treatments offering a non-drug alternative for patients seeking relief from dry eye and MGD symptoms.
